Chicago Bears must regain their defensive prowess

By

Does defense win championships? Is this axiom, recited more often than an anxious teenager blinks, really as sacrosanct as the frequency with which it is repeated?  The reason we inquire is because, despite their 3-1 start, there are foreboding signs that the Bears' championship aspirations could be derailed by a suddenly struggling defense.  The defense, which has ranked … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears must regain their defensive prowess

Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints: brutally honest preview

By

As the Chicago Bears prepare to host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, any media member who does "the Saints come marching into Chicago" GETS KICKED IN THE THROAT, AND HAS THEIR VOCAL CHORDS RIPPED OUT. If you want to declare yourself an untalented hack with zero credibility, make that cliche reference this week. Do you realize how unoriginal that is to make a direct pun of … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints: brutally honest preview

Twitter reacts to Detroit Lions WHUPPING Chicago Bears

By

Finally, people in my hometown can come back to Earth. The meathead contingent of the Chicago Bears fanbase has been way-over-top lately. I seriously thought the most unreasonable cadre of Chicago Bears Nation was ready to record Super Bowl Shuffle Remix '13. Not anymore after today. Now that the Detroit Lions have put the whopping stick on them, here's a sampling of people … [Read more...] about Twitter reacts to Detroit Lions WHUPPING Chicago Bears

NFC North gut check: Chicago Bears rule the roost

By

Through three weeks the NFC North has been up-and-down as a division can get. Coming in to the season, we all thought the NFC would dominate the AFC, but that hasn't necessarily been the case. In fact, the NFC North is 2-2 against the opposing conference in large thanks to the Chicago Bears who have defeated their two AFC teams. Is Julius Peppers going to get sacked by the salary cap?

By

By Jeremy Harris NFL player personnel decisions are made in a ruthlessly dispassionate manner. With the prevalence of non-guaranteed contracts and a hard salary cap in the NFL, salary cap considerations seemingly always take precedence over sentimentality.   Julius Peppers is undoubtedly the Chicago Bears' finest defensive lineman since Hall of Famer Richard Dent was making … [Read more...] about Is Julius Peppers going to get sacked by the salary cap?

Marc Trestman “playing ’74 Golden Gophers football” –Dungy

By

Marc Trestman has been called many things lately: mad scientist, Willy Wonka, Quarterback Guru, Quarterback Whisperer. Tony Dungy, who was Trestman’s roommate for road games in college described the Chicago Bears ’ new offense: “You’re not seeing Canadian football. What you’re seeing is University of Minnesota 1974 football.” If Marc Trestman mania hadn't already started … [Read more...] about Marc Trestman “playing ’74 Golden Gophers football” –Dungy

Mike Ditka rips Niners decision to play Aldon Smith

By

Mike Ditka is back to making sense again. When the mustached one picked the Chicago Bears to win it all this preseason, I thought he had officially checked out from his mind. After all, we've heard him espouse pro Sarah Palin propaganda recently, and his comments against Jenn Sterger in the wake of the Brett Favre scandal reeked of curmudgeonly sexism. And it says a lot for … [Read more...] about Mike Ditka rips Niners decision to play Aldon Smith

Brandon Marshall admits he cried after 2012 Bears season finale

By

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall is the second best interview subject on the team this season. Last year, he was the best, but since tight end Martellus  Bennett joined the team, B Marsh is now second to Martysaurus Rex/The Black Unicorn. I don't know who's third. Or if there even is a third. But as you'll see tonight in the big game between the Bears and … [Read more...] about Brandon Marshall admits he cried after 2012 Bears season finale
