Mike Ditka is back to making sense again. When the mustached one picked the Chicago Bears to win it all this preseason, I thought he had officially checked out from his mind. After all, we’ve heard him espouse pro Sarah Palin propaganda recently, and his comments against Jenn Sterger in the wake of the Brett Favre scandal reeked of curmudgeonly sexism.
And it says a lot for me to side with Sterger, because I really thought she was only famous for a set of implants, and lacking in true talent. But enough about her, Mike Ditka got back on the common sense train this morning on the topic of Aldon Smith.
Smith, who could be entering rehab for alcoholism, just got his second DUI. He was also charged with marijuana possession, and reportedly had a lot of prescription pills on him when he blew a .15 BAC on the breathalyzer. It’s close to double the legal limit of .08.
“You get what you tolerate. What message are you sending to young people in sport? Go ahead, do anything. Be a bum, act like a clown, I’m going to play you on Sunday,” Mike Ditka said on the ESPN pregame morning show.
“I disagree with it totally.”
Clearly, Mike Ditka is no fan of Jim Harbaugh’s decision.
