Keys for the #3 Indiana Hoosiers against the #1 Michigan Wolverines

February 2, 2013 By paulmbanks

Fans, analysts and (surely) the teams themselves have had this one circled all season. Indiana and Michigan were projected to be the Big Ten's two best teams before the beginning of the 2012-13 college basketball campaign, and each has held true to form -- even if in inverse order to this point. And at 9 p.m. today, the Hoosiers and Wolverines -- both with 7-1 Big Ten … [Read more...] about Keys for the #3 Indiana Hoosiers against the #1 Michigan Wolverines

The mysterious play of the Wisconsin Badgers Traevon Jackson

January 27, 2013 By paulmbanks

Coming into the season, Wisconsin Badgers sophomore point guard Traevon Jackson's claim to fame was being the son of Big Ten legend and former NBA pro Jim Jackson. Now he's in the midst of an unpredictable point guard shuffle for a decent Badgers team (14-6) who has surged to a 5-2 record in the best conference in America. To say Jackson's season has been defined by … [Read more...] about The mysterious play of the Wisconsin Badgers Traevon Jackson

Northern Illinois appears to have discontinued it’s basketball program

January 26, 2013 By paulmbanks

And you thought what Florida State did to NIU in the Orange Bowl was bad. I guess Northern Illinois is a college football school; because their college basketball program is horrendous. Some years they're bad, this year they are a train wreck. Today they were to scoring what Tim Beckman is to coaching. In a 42-25 loss to Eastern Michigan, the Huskies had 4, count 'em … [Read more...] about Northern Illinois appears to have discontinued it’s basketball program

Northwestern upsets #12 Gophers, in front of very poor student showing

January 24, 2013 By paulmbanks

nu-student-section

Every year Northwestern Wildcats basketball beats a couple ranked teams during the Big Ten slate. So whenever they play someone good at home you want to be there so you can see a big event, right? Like when the fans stormed the court after taking down a top ten Michigan State team last year. Well the "Wildside" student section doesn't seem to think so. They hardly … [Read more...] about Northwestern upsets #12 Gophers, in front of very poor student showing

9 things really wrong with Illini basketball right now

January 18, 2013 By paulmbanks

Last night the #23 Illini lost at home to a Northwestern team that has their coach squarely on the hot seat, is reeling from injuries and without their best player in Drew Crawford. The loss was the third in a row by double digits for the Illini, and the three defeats have been even more lopsided than the scores indicate. This shouldn't be happening to a team that was ranked in … [Read more...] about 9 things really wrong with Illini basketball right now

Illini guard D.J. Richardson can’t seem to find his shot

January 10, 2013 By paulmbanks

After starting 12-0 the Illinois Fighting Illini are 2-3 in their last 5. And one of those wins was rather ugly. A big reason for their recent struggles is the ramped up level of competition as Big Ten play has begun. But it's also they fact the team lives and dies by the three, and no one was more so than senior guard D.J. Richardson. Of all his field goal attempts on the … [Read more...] about Illini guard D.J. Notre Dame hoops helping New Jersey, victims of Superstorm Sandy

January 10, 2013 By paulmbanks

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called out the GOP majority in the house for dragging their feet on relief for the victims of Superstorm Sandy. And rightfully so, the Republican do nothing congress did even more nothing as relief efforts continue for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, and most notably for those in the state of New Jersey, dragged for weeks behind the aid given … [Read more...] about Notre Dame hoops helping New Jersey, victims of Superstorm Sandy
