If you’re new to playing golf, you might feel like it’s a totally new world to explore. You can dive right into the sport and we’re here to help you find out how. Take our tips to get started with this sport with ease.

Do your Research

When you’re getting started with golf, you want to do your research about the sport and what’s around you. For example, are there any golfing greens within an easy distance? Using a green at a country club can be expensive, but it can also be worth it if they have additional support like trainers.

Work out whether it would be cheaper for you to use the course at a day rate or if you’d want to take a longer term membership. Just shop around and you’ll be able to get the best possible deal for yourself.

Look for Equipment

Next up, it’s time to get the equipment that you need to play. Our advice would be to start shopping with online golf stores in order to check prices and research the different products. If you go into a physical store, you might end up falling for the sales pitch and buying something that’s not suitable.

If you want to keep costs down then you could even rent or look for second hand equipment. Just make sure all of the equipment and golf accessories are in good condition or this could have a negative effect on your game.

Work with a Trainer

If it’s part of your membership with a course, then work with a trainer to guide you through the basics. This will start you off with the right form that will stay with you for the duration of your time on the green. You’d be surprised at just how many golfers out there are using a form that puts them at a disadvantage.

You’ll also learn about keeping yourself safe from an injury. Although golf may seem safer than say a contact sport, this can still cause an injury. Over-stretching in your swing can cause you to pull a muscle that could have you out of the game for weeks!

Keep Records

As you progress in golfing, you’ll want to be able to look back on your record. Keep an accurate record of your strokes on each course and then you can strive towards beating this. This will also come into play if you improve your equipment or work with another trainer – as you can track if they really make a difference.

Even if you’re at a course you think you will only be at once, go ahead and take notes on your game. You never know, you might just end up back there wishing that you had! You can even take down a few notes on the course and what you’d do differently if you played it again.

People all over the world love playing golf and for good reason! If you want to join them then use these top tips to get you started playing.
