US Women Advance to World Cup Final, Beat France 3-1, Await Japan/Sweden

The United States’ semi-final World Cup victory over France today was one of the biggest victories in U. history. And just like in the last round, it was the Abby Wambach and Goaltender Hope Solo show. The U.S. and A (as Borat would say) defeated France 3-1 on two late strikes, including a set piece goal.

Wambach seems to always be in the right place at the right time, and is playing like an MVP of U.S. Women’s soccer (or football as it may be called in your country).

But she got some big help from Lauren Cheney and Solo, who held a powerful France team to just one goal, and made eight saves. Not her best game, but she did tell ESPN after the game “we know were damn good.” Agreed. And she by the way is “damn hot.”

The U.S. women now await the winner of Japan-Sweden in the final.
