Christian Eriksen Could Leave Tottenham, Join Real Madrid in January

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen didn’t get the escape that he wanted from north London this past summer, as Real Madrid were unable/not fully vested enough to acquire him.

Madrid El Presidente Florentino Perez really wants Eriksen to come over, but manager Zinedine Zidane does not. Obviously, you know who will pull rank there, and get his way, so it’s looking like the Dane could move to the Spanish capital once the January transfer window opens up.

Los Reyes Del Europa were after two midfielders this summer in Manchester United star Paul Pogba, and Eriksen, but they were so focused on getting the former (and failed) that they didn’t get the latter, i.e. either of the pair. Eriksen was also heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, which obviously didn’t happen either (there were reports he snubbed their offer), and when you tie it all together, it’s a classic case of transfer window domino theory.

The club futures of Eriksen and Pogba seem to be intertwined at the moment. Spurs are looking for between $22-28 million for Eriksen in January, according to Marca.

If it seems like he could come cheap, well that’s to be expected, given how much he wants out. Further driving down the price is the realization that the 27-year-old attacking midfielder/winger could come for free in the summer.

That all said, does he really even make that much sense at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu though?

While Los Blancos are indeed thin at midfielder overall, they so have plenty of the kinds of players that Christian Eriksen is. Real Madrid have a creative, attacking midfielder kind of player, a classic number ten, and others that already provide what Eriksen would bring to their team.

It would be weird to see how he’d truly fit in.
