Man United Transfer Talk: Gareth Bale, Sean Longstaff, Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The rebuild of Manchester United could definitely take some time, so get ready and dig your heels in for that. The upshot is that we’ll have a summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings.

And with Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already, the time is right for some Red Devils transfer talk on this Sunday funday. We start with an oldie but goodie (arguably), talk of acquiring Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

According to the Mirror‘s Simon Mullock, United are interested in launching a loan bid for the Welshman, who broke the transfer fee record (£77 million) when he left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid in 2013.

Apparently, Tottenham are interested in potentially bringing him back, but like United, have no interest in paying the £75 price tag that Madrid have slapped on him. So it seems that his value in the transfer market has slipped a bit during the six years that he’s been in the Bernabeu.

Bleacher Report has more on how United would like to take him on loan for a season, with an option to extend him another season.

Elsewhere, promising Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff had previously once been projected to be United’s first signing of the summer. Obviously, such speculation was overrated. The 21-year-old has now made comments shutting those narratives down.

“It shows how far I have come,” Longstaff is quoted in The Independent. “If someone told me at the start of the season I’d be getting linked with these teams I’d have laughed.”

“I’m massively flattered to have my name even mentioned in those conversations but like I said, I’m 100 per cent focused on Newcastle and trying to get fit and get back in the team here.”

Finally, we close with the latest on another player heavily linked to United, Crystal Palace right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. United need a replacement for departed team captain Antonio Valencia, but if that is to be Wan-Bissaka, £40 million won’t be enough. Selhurst Park want £60 million for him, which is extremely pricey for a defender.
