Pep Guardiola Bans Man City Staff from Checking Liverpool Score

One thing you won’t find today in the trademark grey sweater of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a device giving him updates on the score of the Liverpool versus Wolverhampton Wanderers game. Or at least the device will be off/in airplane mode.

That’s because Guardiola, according to a report from the Sun, has banned his staff from keeping tabs on that contest while his side plays at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Spaniard wants his side fully focused on the task at hand- winning at Brighton & Hove Albion. City entered Championship Sunday with the advantage over Liverpool. They are one point up in the standings, and thus control their own destiny today; Liverpool does not.

Therefore, they really don’t need to do any scoreboard watching while Liverpool do.

While Pep Guardiola obviously has the right idea with this policy, it’s going to be nearly impossible to enforce.

As it stands right now, and it will likely change several times in the next 90 minutes, Liverpool would win the league as they are up 1-0 on Wolves while City are tied 1-1 at Brighton.
