It’s already been a very exciting summer at Liverpool, with plenty of topics to discuss. And we’re only getting warmed up. What offseason, right?

Let’s take a spin through the news and notes making the rounds on the internet today.

-Manchester City star Bernardo Silva would have really liked it if his former Monaco teammate Fabinho had come to his current club, instead of becoming Liverpool’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

French newspaper L’Equipe asked Silva which former Monaco teammate he would rather have on his side now, Kylian Mbappe or Fabinho.

“The normal choice is Mbappe. In coming years, he can become one of the best in the world, but I can’t decide between him and Fabinho,” Silva responded.

“Fabinho still has 10 years ahead of him and I really enjoyed playing with him. He’s very intelligent, he’s a very good person and a fantastic player.”

-With the Nabil Fekir deal falling apart at the last minute, who’s the next transfer target?

It’s 25-year-old FC Porto left back Alex Telles, and Anfield have some major competition in the race to exercise his £35 million release clause.

The Daily Express points out how “his strong form has caught the eye of a number of European suitors including Chelsea and Liverpool. However, the Premier League big guns will have to battle with Paris Saint-Germain if they are to land the Brazilian.”

-Arguably the story of this World Cup is the health of Egypt/Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah. He didn’t feature yesterday in the Pharaohs’ snatching defeat from the jaws of a draw against Uruguay. Egyptian boss Hector Cuper admits the outcome could have been very different had Salah come on, but the team’s medical staff felt it would have been risky to put him on in this one.

He could have suffered a major setback and thus become unavailable for the rest of the tournament. It’s rather unfortunate that they couldn’t get a point in his absence, as they came oh so close, battling tough all the way.
