Mohamed Salah Says the Premier League Perfectly Suits His Style

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is living the dream right now. Since moving over from AS Roma this summer, he’s been tearing up the English Premier League. Salah is locked in an individual battle with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for the Golden Boot award. With Kane now out injured for an extended period of time, you’ve got to really like the Egyptian’s chances even more now.

Of course the first Premier League go-around for Salah wasn’t this memorable. He joined Chelsea in January 2014, passing up the opportunity to come to Anfield back then. Over a two year span at Stamford Bridge he made just 19 appearances, and didn’t leave much of a mark, but yearned to return someday and have more of an impact.

“In Chelsea I didn’t play, so I didn’t have my chances. I said to all my friends, I think I said it on many interviews as well, that I wanted to come back,” Mohamed Salah told ESPN Brazil in an interview, before articulating how the British top flight perfectly suits his style of play.

“I like the Premier League I lot. I feel it has my style of football. I like to play [in] the Premier League. I said since day one here that I’m happy here at Liverpool and I want to show my football here.

“If you look at me now and five years ago, everything has changed — mentally, physically … everything.”

Salah, who’s transfer market value has nearly doubled this season according to CIES, maintains that he wants to stay on Merseyside for the long term. He has previously promised a trophy this season, and also said that he came to Anfield to win league titles.

“It’s a dream to win the Premier League here after a long time. A club that hasn’t won it for a long time, it’s my dream — honestly. I want to win it with this club.”

It won’t happen this year, as Manchester City have been champions-in-waiting for months already, but if someday Salah can lead the Reds to league title glory, what a dream scenario that would truly be.
