Juan Mata in Christmas Spirit, Hands Out Gifts to Local Children (Video)

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is well known for charitable side, as his philanthropic initiative Common Goal has really taken off. The project, which consists of footballers donating a portion of their salary to charity, has attracted some of the world’s top players. Athletes from all across the world have joined up to Mata’s cause.

The Daily Mail has more on the 32 players who are now dedicated to the movement. Juan Mata showcased his commitment to charitable causes again by handing out Christmas presents to under-privileged children in the Manchester community.

At this link, on United’s official website, you can watch the video of Mata visiting the Wood Street Mission and Zion Centre, where he handed out gifts and scarves to young children.

Here below is United’s official video Christmas card, in which the Spaniard is featured. United, coming off a 2-2 draw at Leicester City on Saturday, will host Burnley tomorrow on Boxing Day.

“It was amazing to meet all of the kids and their families, and to give them some gifts for this Christmas,” Mata said of the experience, as embodied the very spirit of the yuletide.

“It has been great to come to these places and try to help these children. You can see that everyone is very happy and I am very proud that we can do things like this.”

In showing the spirit of giving this holiday season, Juan Mata has set a great example for all the children who look up to him.
