The knee injury suffered by Marouane Fellaini in Belgium’s 4-3 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday is not as bad as initially feared. That’s the good news. Fellaini left in the 29′ after getting treatment on his knee, with the Belgian FA, as well as Belgium Manager Roberto Martinez voicing fears that the attacking midfielder had suffered ligament damage.

However, on Sunday the Belgian FA announced that Fellaini will only be out a couple weeks.

They tweeted this a few hours ago:

Fellaini is now officially ruled out of Belgium’s clash against Cyprus on Tuesday with a medial collateral ligament strain to his left knee. He’s also out for United’s titanic rivalry clash at Liverpool next Saturday. The current time table means that he’ll also miss United’s UEFA Champions League group stage clash Benfica.

It’s possible that he could return to action on October 21 versus Huddersfield Town in Premier League competition. With Paul Pogba already out for the long term, United are facing a serious lack of depth now in their midfield.
