You know how nobody likes Angelina on this season of the Jersey Shore and she is clearly the worst person in the house… Well, there is no Angelina in the ACC this season. But since I am ranking the 72 power conference college basketball teams and top 27 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order, I have to pick one. Sorry, Boston College. 2010-2011 Outlook:
A disappointing 2009-2010 season marked the end of the 13-year Al Skinner-era as he was fired from BC. Now Steve Donahue comes from Cornell to take the reins after leading the Big Red to a Sweet 16 appearance.
Donahue does have the good fortune of taking over a team that returns four starters including their top three scorers and rebounders. So why are they ranked so low? Their depth is a serious concern. When Donahue took over, he lost two players to transfer and several of the committed freshmen backed out on their decision to take their talents elsewhere.
BC was unable to replace those bodies in the short period Donahue had to find new recruits. Realistically, that leaves the Eagles as a team that can only go seven deep next season, maybe eight if one their freshman can acclimate themselves from the get-go. That will hold this team back and as a result they will likely be near the bottom of the ACC standings.
Player to Watch: Reggie Jackson, G
Jackson took a nice step during his sophomore season taking over as the team’s top perimeter player and putting together solid all around numbers of 12.9 points, 5.7 boards, and 4.5 assists per game. Jackson can play either guard spot and should get even more touches now that Rakim Sanders has transferred out of the program. If he can improve on his 29.1 three-point percentage, Jackson might become one of the top scorers in the conference.
