Man United News and Notes: Bailly, Matic, Schweinsteiger, USA Tour, Mata

Manchester United beat Real Madrid 2-1 this evening in their final friendly in the United States. The exceedingly strange, and quite often miserable preseason USA tour is now over, but at least it ends it with a victory, the only one they achieved here without the need for penalty kicks. United will now fly home, and on Sunday, August 5 they will face Bayern Munich for their final friendly of the preseason.

Manager Jose Mourinho has been the lead story of this International Champions Cup, due to his incessant complaining about all that has gone wrong. However, all this will be water under the bridge if United start winning once the games actually count.

Man United vs Real Madrid News and Notes: De Gea, Sanchez, Herrera

Mercifully for Manchester United, tonight’s clash in Miami against Real Madrid is their final friendly in the United States. After this is over, the team will fly home and manager Jose Mourinho can find new things to complain about and other reasons to throw his own players under the bus.

Mourinho loves taking his team to train in Los Angeles, California every preseason, so it’s surprising that the overall tour didn’t work out too well this time. Mourinho knew it was a World Cup year too, so it’s quite shocking that he’s handling the absence of so many key players this poorly.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is confident that the recent transfer business Liverpool Football Club has conducted will help encourage star players to stay on board for the long term. LFC have made the biggest splash of any Premier League club this summer transfer window, breaking the world transfer fee record for a goalkeeper in the acquisition of Alisson Becker from AS Roma.

They also acquired Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City, Fabinho from Monaco and now integrate Naby Keita from RB Leipzig (who they signed last summer) this offseason/preseason. Having a blockbuster, big money transfer window has made the Reds the favorite to try and dethrone Manchester City as Premier League champions.

Jose Mourinho ICC Complaints Countered by AC Milan Boss Gennaro Gattuso

jose mourinho

Jose Mourinho has complained an awful lot about numerous aspects of the International Champions Cup this month. The Manchester United manager has hit out at the attendance, the inability of the event to showcase individual star players, and the general worth/value it provides to fans.

While he certainly has some valid points, (especially so about inflated ticket prices) this much is true- he’s the ONLY manager complaining. While everyone else is dealing with similar conditions, Mt. Mourinho seems to be the only one erupting.
