Flip Saunders was fired minutes ago. The coach of the Washington Wizards, the worst team in the NBA was replaced by assistant Coach Randy Wittman, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement of the change had been made.
The Wizards are 2-15 this season, 0-7 on the road, and looked absolutely atrocious in a 20-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers lats night.
Saunders went 51-130 while in D.C. When he was hired, he had All-Stars Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler to work with, but today the franchise rebuilds around point guard John Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 draft. Unfortunately Wall has little to work with, up front Javale McGee is the closest thing he has to a quality big. There isn’t much help in the backcourt either.
