History dictates that women are not fighters. Men are the dominate gender, hunters and warriors. Women are responsible for taking care of men, children and the home. However, things have definitely evolved. Women have shown the world what they have to offer the fighting industry – from MMA, boxing, kickboxing and even WWE – women have definitely made their mark.

However, have you ever wondered if there is something that spurs some women to go down this career path, more so than others? Is there a certain psychological factor that pre-disposes them to the fighting industry? While this may not be a scientific fact as of yet, consider the information found here.

You have to first take a look of how women first begin entering the industry. After all, this is not something that was considered “normal” for several centuries. However, as people evolved they have accepted the fact that women can do anything men can do. This has aided the fighting industry and women being accepted into this elite group of athletes.

The Evolution of Women Fighters

Due to discrimination and sexism in modern society, women have been suppressed in the fighting industry. However, the past few decades definitely changed this. Today, there are women who are pursuing virtually every facet of fighting, skilled in all sorts of different methods. This is becoming something that is widely accepted. In fact, the first professional women wrestler in the WWE appeared in the 1980s showing how times were changing, evolving and accepting women in the sport.

Psychological Traits of Women Fighters

While there are no proven scientific studies on the reason that women get into professional fighting, there are some observations that have been made. After all, not all women are fighters. Some conform to the role that has been established for them by history. Is there a reason for this? It may be the result of different hormonal levels, or even suppressed aggression. Women fighters have the need to prove something to themselves, and the opposite sex, which is why many say they enter the sport to begin with.

The Fighting Style of Men vs. Women

If you compare the fighting styles of men to women, you will see that most females have a more unconventional approach to facing an opponent. This is usually linked to the fact that men are stronger and have the tendency to throw series of punches in hopes of being able to disable their opponent prior to getting them to submit. Men also primarily use their bodies and fists, relying mostly on their upper body strength.

The fighting style of women is much different. They attempt to look and hurt the person they are fighting in a number of different ways. They also tend to use all of their body – upper and lower body – in order to subdue their opponents.

The Equality of Female Fighting

Since women are now considered equals by society, the concept of women fighters is becoming more and more accepted. Even though it is not in a women’s nature to beat up someone right away, it is something that some women seem drawn to.

So is there a different psyche of Athlete female boxer? Perhaps; however, many believe it is just an effort to show they have the same capabilities of men and that they can also be successful in the industry and pursue their career successfully in this field.
