Now for the latest episode of franchise tailbacks who wear purple and viciously beat women and children. We haven’t heard much about Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice lately. That bears mentioning because in September that’s all we heard about- Adrian Peterson and Ray Rice. When autumn arrived we couldn’t go a single day without coverage of yet another NFL player committing morally repugnant and felonious acts.
That’s quieted down considerably.
Here’s the latest. Via NBC, Football Night in America.
Ray Rice via Michelle Tafoya: “The investigation by former FBI Chief Robert Mueller into the NFL’s handling of the Ray Rice case is ongoing. I spoke with Steelers’ President Art Rooney II, who along with Giants’ owner John Mara is overseeing the investigation, and he told me those three men are meeting several times a month, either via conference call or face-to-face. While there is still no timeline for completion of the investigation, he hopes it will be finished by year’s end.”
“Meanwhile, Rice’s appeal of his indefinite suspension will begin Wednesday in New York where his legal team is expected to argue that he was punished twice for the same incident. They will also seek immediate reinstatement, as well as back pay for the games that they believe Rice could have played. Testifying at that hearing will be Ray and Janay Rice, Roger Goodell, Ravens’ President Dick Cass and GM Ozzie Newsome, along with four other people who were present for Rice’s disciplinary hearing before the Commissioner back in June.”
NFL on FOX’s Jay Glazer provided an update on the status of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson: “Adrian Peterson and his team, they felt that once his legal proceedings were over, he had an agreement with the NFL that he would be taken off of the Commissioner’s exemption list and reinstated, that didn’t happen. As a result of that, on Friday, he had the union fire off a letter to the league, demanding he be reinstated immediately.
“If they don’t do that within the next day or so, the union will file a grievance on his behalf for an expedited hearing from a neutral arbitrator. Adrian Peterson has been training and staying in shape. His teammates want him back, his coaches want him back, now we’re just waiting for the NFL.”
FOX’s Mike Garafolo reported the latest on Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson’s future. Peterson’s reinstatement was not facilitated by the NFL and the NFLPA plans to file grievance early this week: “
By this time next week, Adrian Peterson could be preparing to play in an NFL game, at least that’s what the union hopes for. The NFLPA plans to file an expedited non-injury grievance early this week. That hearing would be heard within seven days according to the collective bargaining agreement and according to the CBA both sides are to work in good faith to get that grievance done before the team’s next game.”
