ANOTHER AMAZING GOAL FOR GRANLUND

While Mikael Granlund may not be playing for the Minnesota Wild for at least one more year, but he continues to show the skill and hands that amazed the entire world at this year’s World Championships, where he scored the world’s greatest goal.  Today, the Minnesota Wild held one of two scrimmages for the prospects who had been invited to development camp this past week.  To see the highlight goal that Granlund scored during today’s scrimmage, continue after the jump.

Chicago Blackhawks Patrick Kane Injures Wrist, Will Have Surgery

RECOVERY EXPECTED TO TAKE 6-8 WEEKS

Looks like Chicago Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane will have trouble lifting his drink for the next six to eight weeks.  The Blackhawks released a statement today announcing that Kane has a fractured left wrist that will require surgery to repair.  The surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, July 19.  A full recovery from the injury could take up to two months.  For more on the injury, and the full statement from the Chicago Blackhawks, click after the jump.

Prince William Takes Shot At Hockey, Fails Royally (VIDEO)

PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON IN CANADA

The British royal newlyweds, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are currently visiting North America.  During their tour of Canada, they visited its northern most outpost:  Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.  As any smart diplomat would do, Prince William partook in the local customs.  And no custom is more sacred than hockey.  To see the video of Prince William attempt at Canada’s national game, continue after the jump.

Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks Make Second Blockbuster Trade

MARTIN HAVLAT TRADED FOR DANY HEATLEY

 

The Minnesota Wild and San Jose Sharks have made a second blockbuster trade in just over a week.  The Wild send last year’s leading scorer Martin Havlat to the Sharks for former Wisconsin Badger star Dany Heatley.  The trade was an old school one for one player swap, something rarely seen in these days of mega contracts.  Havlat has four years left at $5 million per season, while Heatley will make $7.5 million for the next three years.
