Rajon Rondo Lists Bulls Roster Hierarchy; Somewhat Contradicts Himself

“The main thing is that we have three alphas. There will be three alphas on the team,” newly minted Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo told reporters today. He was referring to himself, Jimmy Butler and just announced signing Dwyane Wade. 

“Just trying to mesh together and try to make sure we are doing the best thing for the team,” Rondo said before later contradicting himself. The NBA leader in assists last season was asked who the big dog was going to be.  “Obviously it’s Jimmy’s team,” he responded.

“Jimmy’s the youngest, he’s the engine here. It’ll be Jimmy, Wade, and then it will be a pecking order.”

Rajon Rondo Needs A Rest Before Celtics Playoff Run


Rajon Rondo is “playing hurt”, says Kevin Garnett. “No, he’s fine – nothing’s wrong,” says Doc Rivers. So, who is telling the truth about Boston Celtics point guard? Should we believe a teammate or the coach? It’s a tough call, but maybe Kevin’s let slip a little too much detail while Doc is making a belated attempt at damage limitation.

If Rondo is injured, the last thing Celtics coach Rivers wants opponents to know is that very fact. Rivers was yesterday asked by a journalist if Garnett was wrong to state that the 25-year-old Kentuckian was unfit and provided a terse: “Yeah, he is.”

3 More NBA Ballers named to Team USA Roster


The national team added three more NBA players to the roster today. The newest member of the Dallas Mavericks, center Tyson Chandler, Phoenix Suns center Robin Lopez and Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo  comprise the trio now a part of the 2010-12 USA Basketball Men’s National Team. USA Basketball also confirmed that 21 players are expected to actively participate in the upcoming July 19-24 USA Basketball Men’s National Team training camp in Las Vegas, Nev.

Confirmed to be on the court in Vegas are Chauncey Billups (Denver Nuggets); Chandler; Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder); Tyreke Evans (Sacramento Kings); Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies); Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers); Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers); Jeff Green (Oklahoma City Thunder); Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers); David Lee (Golden State Warriors); Brook Lopez (New Jersey Nets); Robin Lopez; Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves); O.J. Red hot Bucks beat the Boston Celtics in chippy, playoff atmosphere
