Northwestern sets school record for total offense

In their 44-29 victory over Indiana Saturday, Northwestern had an extremely balanced attack on offense: accruing 310 yards passing and 394 yards rushing (704 overall on 93 plays). Northwestern Wildcats Moving on to Play #1 Ohio State

Michael juice Thompson

As he has so many times this season, Northwestern Wildcats senior point guard Michael “Juice” Thompson carried his team on his back, leading his team to a victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in a Big Ten Tournament game they absolutely had to have in order to preserve any chance of a NCAA Tournament berth; and probably really needed to salvage a NIT berth.

Northwestern Closes Out Illini, Illinois Road Woes Continue

In the second battle between Chicago’s two Big Ten college basketball teams, the outcome was drastically different from the first. Just how much of a disparity?

It would be like comparing the body composition of Illini Center Mike Tisdale (7-1, very svelte) to that of Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi (4-8, very squished).

“It was to them,” he answered.

And the campaign is working. Through the first three home games, Ryan Field attendance was up 51.1% over the first three in 2009. The heartbreaking 35-27 loss to #7 and undefeated Michigan State drew 41,000+, the largest crowd of the year. What’s more impressive, is that they’ve drawn better despite the weather often working against them.

And yesterday it was announced that they have sold out the last two games: versus Iowa Nov. 13 and Illinois at Wrigley Field Nov. 20th
