It took a season longer than anticipated but the Miami Heat reached the top of the mountain last season winning the NBA Championship and getting the insanely large monkey off LeBron James’ back.  Management didn’t just sit back and rest on their laurels this off-season, making a few minor but key moves to help the Heat’s chances of repeating.

Outstanding off-season keeps Boston Celtics NBA title contenders

The goal in recent years for the Boston Celtics was just get to the postseason healthy in hopes of making a playoff run with their veteran core.  This off-season, the Celtics got younger, deeper, and all-around better meaning they will once again be a serious player in the Eastern Conference.

With a move across the Hudson, new arena and logo, and remade roster; the now Brooklyn Nets’ much anticipated makeover is complete.  With all the money they spent this off-season, the team will undoubtedly be one of the most improved teams in the NBA but will it be enough for the franchise to compete for the Eastern Conference title?

New York Knicks have enough pieces to contend in Eastern Conference

The resurrection of the New York Knicks hasn’t been an as accelerated a process as management would have hoped.  They invested a ton of money in signing a big three of their own but haven’t been able to get the job done on their own just yet.  That’s why the Knicks added some veteran pieces this off-season that should help them contending in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia 76ers season depends on Andrew Bynum’s health

The Philadelphia 76ers made a major splash in the off-season by trading Andre Iguodala for Andrew Bynum in a four-team deal.  The Sixers are hoping Bynum is able to stay healthy and help put them in contention for the Eastern Conference title.

Chicago Bulls season hinders on Derrick Rose’s return

His Adidas commercial portrays the scene pretty darn accurately as all of Chicago went silent when Derrick Rose clutched his knee in the first game of the Bulls’ opening round playoff series against the 76ers with the worst coming true; a torn ACL.  With Rose’s return questionable for this season, the Bulls must simply survive in hopes that their superstar can get back on the floor before the postseason begins.

Toronto Raptors should be one of most improved teams in NBA

The Toronto Raptors added four quality pieces in the off-season and should be one of the most improved teams in the Eastern Conference; certainly possessing enough talent to earn a spot in the playoffs.

Another NBA season, another mediocre Milwaukee Bucks team

With just one winning season in the past eight years, mediocrity is considered success for the Milwaukee Bucks.  Getting to the five hundred mark this season would be a win and might be enough to get the team into the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Detroit Pistons unlikely to break playoff drought

The Detroit Pistons are still suffering from some recent poor financial decisions made by general manager Joe Dumars that has held back the franchise (i.e. the Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva off-season along with the fact that Richard Hamilton still accounts for $5.5 million of their cap this year.)  Like the past three seasons, Detroit figures to fall short of the playoff picture.

Rebuilding Atlanta Hawks unlikely to make playoffs

Having failed to get past the Eastern Conference Semifinals with their previous core, the new Atlanta Hawks front office made the bold decision of entering a rebuilding mode by dealing their star player, Joe Johnson.  As a result, the A-T-L should take a pretty steep drop in the standings as they undergo some transition.

Year two of the post-LeBron James makeover in Cleveland is underway.  Led by reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving, the future is getting brighter for the Cavs but they are still a couple of seasons away from being a legitimate playoff contender.
