2011 NBA Draft Day Trade Analysis

raymond felton blazers

Compared to year’s past, it was a relatively quiet draft night in terms of veteran players being dealt.  We can probably thank the pending NBA lockout for that.  Still, there were a few deals made during the 2011 NBA Draft including point guards Andre Miller, Raymond Felton, George Hill, and Jonny Flynn.  Here is my breakdown of the trades.

NBA Trade Machine Challenge: Blow Up Pistons’ Roster

rip hamilton tayshaun prince

The Sports Guy refers to himself as the Picasso of ESPN’s NBA Trade Machine.  Well if he is Picasso then The Sports Bank’s Peter Christian and David Kay are the da Vinci and van Gogh of the trade machine (though neither would cut their own ear off while working on a trade… or at least I don’t think.)

In this new feature, Peter and David will play the role of NBA general manager since they are likely more intelligent than half of the GM’s out there.  One will propose a challenge to the other to make a trade happen with certain requirements and the other will accept the mission like he were Tom Cruise and explain why all parties involved would pull the trigger on the deal.

There were ten trades made on draft day with most of the movement coming in the late first round.  ESPN does such a poor job of explaining what is going on that you might be confused as to who ended up where.  Luckily, David Kay is here to break down all the trades.

2010 NBA Mock Draft (Role Playing Edition)

2010 NBA Mock Draft

It’s NBA Draft week!  I am more giddy than Adam Lambert at an all boys school.  Make sure to check back to The Sports Bank frequently this week for all the latest draft info.  I will be updating my 2010 NBA Mock Draft Tuesday, Wednesday, and several times leading up to the first pick on Thursday.  We will also be live chatting during the actual draft and posting live grades for each pick so come and join the fun.  You can also check out my 2011 NBA Mock Draft.

When I usually do my NBA Mock Draft, I more times than not tend to make the picks based on what I think the teams WILL do rather than what they SHOULD do.  For today’s mock draft, I enlisted the help of fellow TSB contributors and NBA nerds, Peter Christian (PC) and Andy Weise (AW).  (I would be DK… David Kay.)  We each did some role playing and assumed the general manager position for each NBA team and went through the draft with the picks WE would make if WE were running the team.  Trades were allowed and here are how the selections played out.
