Before the Lebron show, watch the Knicks’ Amare Show

As you know, Thursday night will be all about the Lebron show, the where and when he makes his free agent announcement. Although most people believe he’s staying in Cleveland, there are rumblings that he’s going to New York now. Speaking of the Knicks, an hour before the show you can get your NBA free agency fix on the MSG Network.

NBA all-star Amar’e Stoudemire has signed with the NY Knicks (exclusive video reaction here), the first big name free agent to switch teams. Today, it was announced Chris Bosh will join the Heat, making him the second free agent star to switch teams. However, with all that excess cap room the Knicks have left, we’re wondering who else will make the move into the Big Apple and become a Knickerbocker.

ESPN to Air LeBron Announcement Show

LeBron James

I am not sure if it’s genius, egotistical, ridiculous, or the perfect ending to what has been months upon months of speculation as to where LeBron James will land.  Regardless, the King is expected to make his announcement Thursday night in an hour-long special on ESPN at 8:00 EST.  (Somewhere Brett Favre is kicking his agent for not coming up with this idea each of the last six off-seasons.)

LeBrottery 2010: who gets King James?

So where’s he going to go? As it stands now, Vegas’ odds makers have the Chicago Bulls with the best chance of landing LeBron, but I think he’s destined to go to New York. That’s my gut and I’m sticking to it. And isn’t that why we make NBA Picks and focus on NBA Lines? To “make things interesting.”

So here we sit, the day Cavalier fans have dreaded. Can we really feel bad for them though? The Cavs have done nothing but disappoint in the playoffs every year with LeBron (and yes, I’m including the sweep by the Spurs in the finals as a disappointment. It was such an uncompetitive series that many people have forgotten LeBron once actually reached the finals). Most depressing of all, the Cavs have tried to build a team around LeBron, signing Mo Williams, Shaq, and Jamison, but only seeing little improvement.

Real Season Begins NOW for New York Knicks

As expected, it was another rough year for the Knicks franchise as they suffered through their ninth straight losing season.  However, it was almost accepted by their front office and fan base as the true season for the Knicks begins on July 1st when the NBA free agency period begins.

Every single move the Knicks have made post-Isaiah Thomas has been geared up to clear cap space so they could be a major player this off-season.  That’s why New York dealt their 2009 first round pick Jordan Hill and a 2011 first round pick to the Rockets just so Houston would take on Jared Jefferies salary for next season.  In the process, the Knicks acquired Tracy McGrady who was a free agent.  New York now enters the off-season with only four players under contract next season and a boatload of cap space.
