Green Bay Packer players really resemble their wives (video)

a.j. hawk

Here’s a St. Valentine’s day story for you. According to a new online dating service and NBC 26 Green Bay, many Green Bay Packer players show a very strong resemblance to their spouses. FindYourFacemate.com is a new service that uses facial recognition technology to match couples based on how similar the facial layout. And the Packer players fit the bill.

Sounds nuts, but watch the NBC 26 segment after the jump, and see for yourself. Maybe this is why they’ve won a Super Bowl and earned a #1 seed in the past three years

Green Bay Packers CEO hosts open conference call with fans

green-bay-packers

We’re just one day away from the Green Bay Packers’ playoff opener against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field. So this afternoomn Vic Ketchman editor from Packers.com hosted Pack President and CEO Mark Murphy on an open conference call for Packer backers. As a stockholder, I had to listen in and hear what Murphy had to say.

Murphy seemed to like a lot of the questions, saying “that’s a good question,” in response to many of the queries.

Aaron Rodgers ripped on Twitter by Greg Jennings’ sister

aaron_rodgers

Wow! The kids in elementary school (in the insurance ad) aren’t as hard on Aaron Rodgers as the sister of Greg Jennings. No discount double check applicable to Valyncia Jennings. Despite the fact that her brother was targeted 12 times and had 120 yards receiving in the Green Bay Packers loss to the Minnesota Vikings, she was still less than satisfied.

She’s an example of how live tweeting a game can be stupid, and dangerous.

Green Bay Packers schedule out, three of first four at Lambeau

aaron_rodgers

In 2012, the Green Bay Packers find themselves in one of the biggest match-ups of week one, as last year’s #1 seed in the NFC will take on an NFC finalist in the San Francisco 49ers. After that scintillating on paper contest the Pack host the rival Chicago Bears in week two on a Thursday night. After a week three trip to Seattle, to battle the Seahawks on Monday night, the Packers return home to face the Sean Payton-less New Orleans Saints, and possibly get revenge for the bounty hunters targeting Aaron Rodgers.

Packers QB, Brett Favre predecessor Blair Kiel dies at age 50

blair-kiel

Blair Kiel, a backup quarterback for the Green Bay Packers in the early 1990s, and of the last Pack signal callers to start at the position before Brett Favre began his phenomenal streak has died. Kiel last started for the Packers in 1991. Favre took over the position from 1992-2007.

Kiel passed away Sunday in Columbus, Ind., of what Bartholomew County authorities said was a heart attack. He also had Crohn’s disease. Blair Kiel’s nephew, Gunner Kiel, is a freshman quarterback on the 2012 Notre Dame football roster, and was the nation’s top rated signal caller by most recruiting services.

Green Bay Packers 2012 preseason schedule; erase sour 2011 memories

green-bay-packers-logo

Given the way 2011 ended for the Green Bay Packers, with that bitter, stomach-churning upset to the New York Giants in the postseason. Which shut the door on the promising, dominating 15-1 regular season, and opened the door for the 9-7 Giants to beat the New England Patriots and win the Super Bowl. (In other words, a NFL version of the 83-79 St. Louis Cardinals winning the 2006 World Series)

Time is already here to move on to 2012.

And the Pack preseason schedule is already out.

Packers Aaron Rodgers and Graham Harrell Join Fraternity!

aaron_rodgers_graham_harrell

“Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, your new pledge name is….” “Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Graham Harrell, it is tim.”

That’s right both the Pack 1st and 3rd string signal callers have joined a fraternity, the same exact one actually. As of January 5th, 2012 6pm CT, both men became members of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Herman Cain Embarasses Himself in Milwaukee, Visits Packers Fans (Video)

herman-cain

I’ve always said this is a sports news blog, not a current events blog. However, when Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain stopped in Milwaukee to do a media session with Journal-Sentinel reporters, and later visit with Green Bay Packers fans prior to their Monday night match-up with the Minnesota Vikings, Cain entered my Midwestern world and made himself a sports story.

And you can be the most right leaning, left leaning, centrist, or just plain apolitical person alive to appreciate the video coming up after the jump.

WOW!!! The unintentional comedy is off the charts here.

Packers, Badgers Undefeated, Brewers Dominating NLDS, Cheeseheads on Fire!

Last year, sports fans in America’s Dairyland probably thought things were as good as they could possibly get. But 2011 is looking a whole ‘nother level can be reached. You have the #5 Badgers at 5-0, the reigning Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers as one of the NFL’s two undefeated teams (the Detroit Lions are the other), and the Milwaukee Brewers about to eliminate the Arizona Diamondbacks in their NLDS series.

Sure, the Bucks are still a train wreck, but the NBA is on lockout, so we won’t really see that.

Yes, there’s something in the water right now; and the state is half-bordered by great lakes.

Green Bay Packers 2011 Season Preview: Courtesy of SI

This week’s Sports Illustrated is the annual NFL preview issue, which hits newsstands tomorrow. They have six regional covers and Clay Matthews is on one of them.

Excerpted is their Green Bay Packers preview article which highlights TE Jermichael Finley as a player who is poised to have a huge season coming off an injury in 2010. Finley tells SI’s Peter King, “All I’ve shown in my career is an appetizer. It’s time for the main course.”
SI has predicted that the Packers will win the NFC North with a record of 11-5 before losing in the NFC divisional playoffs.
