2011 Guest NBA Mock Draft 6-22-11

Is Arizona’s Derrick Williams a Power Forward or Small Forward in the NBA?

derrick williams nba draft

Other than Marquette and Wisconsin, I have watched more Arizona Wildcat games in the past two seasons than any other team.  (And remember, I have watched more than 900 college basketball games in the past three years.)  Seeing Derrick Williams‘ meteoric rise on NBA Draft boards during that time has been rather remarkable.  And now, barring a crazy trade or some dumb David Kahn decision, Williams will be one of the top two picks in Thursday’s 2011 NBA Draft.

Kyrie Irving or Derrick Williams? 2011 NBA Draft Lottery Breakdown

nba draft lottery

Barring something incredibly stupid happening, or Minnesota Timberwolves GM David Kahn calling the shots, the top pick in the 2011 NBA Draft will either be Duke point guard Kyrie Irving or Arizona forward Derrick Williams.  Had North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes declared for the draft rather than choosing to return to the Tar Heels for his sophomore season, he would also be in the discussion.

The ping pong balls will sort themselves out Tuesday night in the annual NBA Draft Lottery.  Let’s take a look at each team’s odds and whether they would lean towards picking Irving or Williams if they earned the spot.  Go here for The Sports Bank’s 2011 NBA Mock Draft.

NBA Draft Stock Report: Sweet 16/Elite 8 Edition

Click here for The Sports Bank’s 2011 NBA Mock Draft.  You can also check out the list of underclassmen who have already declared for the draft or announced their intention of returning to school.

College Hoops 101 (3/16/11)

uconn big east champs

There is doing work and then there is what I did during Conference Tournament week.  I was to watching college basketball what Bob Knight is to pump fakes; obsessed.  I did not reach my goal of watching all 15 Big East Tournament games but I did set a single week record for games watched. Plus, my final bracketology also held its own against Joe Lunardi’s which I consider a great success.  Now, let the madness begin!

If you are unfamiliar with College Hoops 101, it is a weekly feature here at The Sports Bank that breaks down everything you need to know going on in the world of college basketball.  I will look back at the conference tourneys and break down what to expect in the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
