Packers blow past the Minnesota Vikings despite Joe Webb-mania

Erik Walden sack of Joe Webb

Hours before the highly-anticipated playoff meeting between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings it was announced starting quarterback Christian Ponder was inactive with an elbow injury.

Enter back-up Joe Webb who was actually trending on twitter for much of Wild-Card Saturday.

What started as good trending (“Webb is super fast and runs the read-option, something the Packers haven’t seen”) quickly turned into bad trending when the audience learned Webb cannot throw a football.

Subsequently, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers picked apart the Vikings in a 24-10 win.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers roll the terrible Tennessee Titans

Aaron Rodgers vs. Titans

Earlier in the season, it would have been appropriate to point out how the Green Bay Packers play down to lesser competition in close wins over the New Orleans Saints and Jacksonville Jaguars at home.

Can’t say that now though as the Packers (11-4) steam-rolled the Titans to the tune of 55-7.

Aaron Rodgers was responsible for four of the touchdowns, throwing three and rushing for another.

Fresh off a significant division-clinching win over the rival Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers have their eyes set on a possible first round bye and home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Before they can start thinking about those amenities, they first must host and beat the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans enter the game as huge underdogs and will be highly motivated to sneak up on Green Bay and play a spoiler to one of the NFC’s Super Bowl hopefuls. [Read more…]

Let the battle for the NFC North between the Packers and Bears begin

This article could start out about how the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears take part in the NFL’s oldest rivalry, blah blah blah, but let’s not get too cliche.

For the most part, today’s players could care less about the league’s historic rivalries. As long as a pay-check is being deposited into their bank accounts, playing resumes as usual.

With that said, the Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall steered away from the norm by trash-talking the Packers and essentially making it known that this game is an important one.

The odds are stacked in the Packers’ favor against the Detroit Lions

When the Detroit Lions visit Green Bay it gives the media a chance to show off a bunch of unique statistics in the NFL, a league which has become defined by parity.

The recent past between the Lions and Packers has nothing to do with parity.

The Lions haven’t won in the state of Wisconsin since 1991, back when Barry Sanders was breaking ankles and dropping the jaw of every fan in the nation.

Eli Manning and the Giants make the Packers look like they have “dead-arm”

After not throwing a touchdown in three straight games, the New York Giants Eli Manning threw three of them in a 38-10 rout of the Green Bay Packers.

The nasty injury-bug finally caught up to the Packers (7-4) who looked lost on the offensive line and couldn’t stop any facet of the Giants’ (7-4) offensive attack.

The injury-riddled Packers beat the Cardinals for their fourth straight win

Injuries are as common to football as cheese is to Wisconsin, but the plague that has hit Green Bay is way beyond what any normal team goes through.

After beating the Arizona Cardinals by the score of 31-17, the Packers (6-3) are legitimately without 11 starting players. New injuries to WR Jordy Nelson, OL Bryan Bulaga and LB/DE Clay Matthews only adds salt to an open wound as the team enters their bye week. [Read more…]

Green Bay Packers look to give the Cardinals their fifth straight loss

Winners of three straight, the Green Bay Packers welcome in the Arizona Cardinals who appear on the opposite side of the spectrum with four straight losses.

The Cardinals (4-4) are the first team since the 2002 Oakland Raiders to start the year 4-0 and lose their next four games. Green Bay has a chance to make sure the birds from the desert don’t follow the same path as that Raiders team went on to finish the year 11-5 and win the Super Bowl behind MVP-quarterback Rich Gannon.

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Brutally Honest Preview

The Green Bay Packers have had one of the tougher schedules to start the year. They started with the stout 49ers, a division rival in the Bears, a Seattle game marred by the replacement refs and a Saints team desperate for a win. To come out of that with a 2-2 record could be looked at as a success or an utter disappointment.

And just when you thought the road gets a little easier, it doesn’t.

The Packers travel to Indianapolis to take on a Colts team who will be playing with heavy hearts after learning about their Head Coach Chuck Pagano and his diagnosis with leukemia.

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

Now that the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints have combined for only one win in a total of six games, it almost makes you believe that the league has some kind of vendetta against them.

Because of Bounty-Gate, the Saints (0-3) are without key defenders and their head coach Sean Payton which has them reeling at the end of close games. Meanwhile the Packers (1-2) are on the wrong side of a .5oo record due to the replacement refs’ blunder on Monday Night Football.

For these reasons, the match-up on Sunday is pretty much a must-win if either team wants to make the playoffs.

Green Bay Packers drop season-opener to the 49ers (Rapid Reaction)

Bad reffing aside, the Green Bay Packers’ defense had no answers for the San Francisco 49ers who went into Lambeau Field and pulled out a 30-22 win.

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t horrible, but he also wasn’t his MVP-self with a costly interception in the fourth quarter with the game on the line.
