Only two of the Big East’s 11 teams remain in the NCAA Tournament. So much for that Big East is the best conference in college basketball talk. The BE has has many teams still dancing as the tiny hamlet of Richmond, Virginia.

One of the conference teams that fell on their face down the stretch and bowed out early in the big dance was Georgetown. The Hoyas had a very talented senior backcourt in Chris Wright and Austin Freeman. Unfortunately, they did have much this season beyond the duo with  high NBA Draft stock.

A major reason they got blown out by VCU in their first tourney game was because the duo combined to shoot a putrid 6-27 from the field and a ridiculously off 0-13 from behind the arc. And the Hoyas had no one else to step up.

99 in 99: #38 Dayton Flyers

A pre-season Top 25 team a year ago, Dayton was supposed to be the cream of the crop in the Atlantic 10.  Instead, the Flyers floundered finishing a disappointing seventh place in a surprisingly competitive conference.  They missed out on the NCAA Tournament but took home the NIT Championship… which poses the question; would you rather your team make it to the NCAA Tournament and be a one-and-done or have your team win the NIT?  Discuss.
