Former Blackhawks D Brent Sopel keeps dream alive in Chicago

October 19, 2014 By jeff-hicks

Brent Sopel, Chicago Wolves

Brent Sopel is playing hockey again in Chicago. It isn’t with the obvious team, either. The Calgary, Alberta native officially signed with the Chicago Wolves on October 10, and has played in each of the team’s first four games. After a three year stint in the Kontinental Hockey League, Sopel decided it was time to return to North America. The 37-year old Sopel is now in his … [Read more...] about Former Blackhawks D Brent Sopel keeps dream alive in Chicago

October 19, 2014 By paulmbanks

Welcome to what may or may not be the final edition of “The Cuttys,” or the Jay Cutler DON’T CARE awards. They honor, as one Facebook commenter put it: “all the non-news that’s fit to delete.” Or more literally:  “terrible attempts at creating news, that I instantly deleted upon seeing it in my inbox.” All media members receive dozens of press releases and story pitches … [Read more...] about Jay Cutler Don’t Care Awards: ESPN, FOX, NBC, CBS, CSN

Everett Golson is a Heisman candidate; in 2015

October 19, 2014 By paulmbanks

everett-golson notre dame football

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson had a Heisman Trophy moment tonight...called back due to a C.J. Prosise offensive pass interference penalty. It would have complemented the true Heisman moment he had closing out the win over Stanford. However, tonight, and the Stanford game are negated by the Syracuse and North Carolina contests. Both of those were the best of times. They … [Read more...] about Everett Golson is a Heisman candidate; in 2015

David Moyes feels he got a raw deal from Manchester United

October 19, 2014 By paulmbanks

David Moyes didn't think Manchester United "did right" by him sacking him in less than ten months on the job. Moyes inherited the defending champions and guided them to seventh place. His reign of terror at Old Trafford was a total disaster from start to finish. However, he thinks he got a bum deal. … [Read more...] about David Moyes feels he got a raw deal from Manchester United

VIDEO: Ander Herrera vs Juan Mata crossbar challenge

October 19, 2014 By paulmbanks

Ander Herrera could make an earlier than expected return for Manchester United thanks to a special corset to protect his broken rib. Expect him to play versus West Bromwich Albion. With Herrera back, expect Louis van Gaal to play that diamond formation that he likes so much. It also means Juan Mata should start. … [Read more...] about VIDEO: Ander Herrera vs Juan Mata crossbar challenge

Kenny Bell: greatest Nebraska Cornhuskers WR ALL TIME. PERIOD

October 18, 2014 By paulmbanks

kenny-bell

Kenny Bell is the greatest NU wideout of all time. Seriously. Nebraska Cornhuskers football is a very proud program that has accomplished a lot of things. However, they really haven't had a whole lot of standout receivers. Kenny Bell had 5 receptions for 89 yards tonight at Northwestern through three quarters. He finished with those numbers as the Huskers blew Northwestern … [Read more...] about Kenny Bell: greatest Nebraska Cornhuskers WR ALL TIME. PERIOD

October 18, 2014 By paulmbanks

#19 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Northwestern Preview and Prediction

October 18, 2014 By paulmbanks

It's the NU bowl. Also, the furry feline friend bowl as both programs have cat mascots. In regards to on-the-field material, Nebraska Cornhuskers versus Northwestern Wildcats marks a battle to take control of the Big Ten West division. Wisconsin just doesn't have it this year, so the race for that slot in the B1G Championship game will come down to the two NUs, and the … [Read more...] about #19 Nebraska Cornhuskers vs Northwestern Preview and Prediction

#2 Florida State Football vs #5 Notre Dame Preview and prediction

October 18, 2014 By paulmbanks

ESPN is extremely obnoxious in their over-coverage of #2 Florida State football and Jameis Winston. Bristol will ratchet that up even more this week as their partner, ABC, is televising this contest and their preview show, College Gameday is coming to Tallahassee. If FSU wins, the World Wide Leader will go full on CNN-with-the-missing-airplane on Jameis Winston and Florida St. … [Read more...] about #2 Florida State Football vs #5 Notre Dame Preview and prediction
