The NFL moving back to Los Angeles is one of the major consistent storylines this football season. We’ve been following it pretty closely since last spring, as it’s an extremely fluid situation. The Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams are all still moving full speed ahead towards Los Angeles.

Of the three teams, the Chargers are the closest to making it a done deal. It seems to pretty much be a fait accompli for them.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport on the potential of the NFL in Los Angeles:

“The deadline to file relocation papers to Los Angeles is tomorrow. I am told all three organizations – the Chargers, Rams and Raiders – will file those papers tomorrow. I am also told that the Rams will not accept the St. Louis stadium plan; that is something the league will have to deal with. I’m also told that heading into the January 12 meeting that no side right now is set to get 24 votes so there will need to be a compromise to make it happen. A couple other tidbits, the relocation fee per team I’m told is $550 million. In addition, whichever team gets left out of going to Los Angeles the league is expected to help them secure a new home.”
