Like I’ve always said booing is pointless, but you have a right to do it. Players and coaches have a right to complain about fans booing, and we as media have a right to ridicule them for doing so. Booing doesn’t accomplish anything, and helps no one. That said, Kyle Long and the rest of the Chicago Bears can be miffed if they want.
Today, Long ripped Bears for booing the team (which is 0-3 at home this year) and for not making enough noise to distract the Miami Dolphins when they were on offense, trying to convert third downs.
That second part is a bit odd though. It sounds like Long is asking the fans to do his job for him; sort of. Kind of. Kyle Long explained himself later on his verified Twitter account:
“Wasn’t just running around blaming the fans. I was asked about it and I said what I said. I wish we were making great plays all the time too,” he Tweeted.
The Chicago Bears locker room was described as very tense and emotionally charged. There was quite the scene supposedly. This was behind closed doors before media were allowed in so no one really knows specifically what happened, as no reporters were there. However, sources says Brandon Marshall and Kyle Long were at the center of the drama. And that Marshall called out Jay Cutler.
And perhaps Robbie Gould too.
Coach Marc Trestman described it as “a very sick locker room.”
