Now that Jay Cutler is officially gone from Chicago, it’s time to look at where he might land. It’s also time to consider what exactly the Cutler legacy with the Chicago Bears will be, and we’ve already done that over at this link.
Here are four teams to consider:
Miami Dolphins
In the words of elite comedian and Dolphins super fan Daniel Tosh, “oh Tannehill, oh Tannehill, you over-threw another receiver.” Cutler is an upgrade over Ryan Tannehill, as long as it’s the Jay Cutler of 2015 who worked under Adam Gase, then Chicago Bears offensive coordinator, now Dolphins Head Coach.
Gase is seriously the one OC or HC who really did get through to Cutler and get the most production out of his skill set.
New York Jets
Latest odds of where Jay Cutler signs:
New York Jets -250
Miami Dolphins +750
New Jets QB coach Jeremy Bates served as Cutler’s QB coach in both Denver and Chicago. Think of the entertainment value that would arise from combining Jay Cutler with the New York media and the national media, who have a New Yorkcentric bias. It’s gold Jerry, GOLD!
Houston Texans
Getting rid of Brock Osweiler was mostly a salary dump, as they simply tried to minimize the damage done by making that very poor signing. They’re one of two teams likely to get Tony Romo, but what if the Dallas Cowboys trade him to the Denver Broncos instead?
Does Houston try and draft Mitch Trubisky, DeShone Kizer or Deshaun Watson? Would Cutler gel with Bill O’Brien?
This might be the highest risk, but also highest reward option; especially when you consider all the pieces they have around to support the QB.
Cleveland Browns

The Browns and Texans worked out a clever deal for Osweiler that was good for both parties, from a financial stand point. Now that Os is gone, what next? Yes, it’s the eternal question with the Brownies.
Whether it’s on draft day or or later in free agency, Cleveland is where quarterbacks careers go to die. Maybe that changes with Jay Cutler. Maybe the negativity that has surrounded Jay Cutler combines with the Browns history at the position to create positivity because like forces repel, and two negatively charged ions….hey, you try coming up with four whole teams for Cutty Does It.
Even three was a bit of a stretch to say the least.
Seriously though, he’ll end up somewhere, and he’ll make bank. He might even win a few games and put up some good numbers; maybe.
