Yes, RG3, Robert Griffin III, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, #2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, no doubt headlines this stellar list.

Kings Bowl, a bowling, dining and cocktail venue located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, will host an evening of bowling, food and festivities to support the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation.

“It’s kind of like one big giant room,” said Peanut Tillman by phone, “so even if you’re not bowling, you’ll still feel like you’re bowling and part of the actual event and party.”

“If you don’t want to bowl you can just come to the event, play games, drink, eat, play pool, air hockey, there will be tons of prizes.”

A few years ago, Tillman started the Cornerstone Foundation aiming to help chronically and critically ill children. The cause hits home for Tillman as his then infant daughter Tiana was diagnosed with a form of cardiomyopathy, a heart enlarging and weakening condition, in May of 2008.

With the help of both a cutting edge medical device called the Berlin Heart and Children’s Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park, Tiana recovered and remains in fine health these days. As someone who has seen his daughter overcome a very serious medical issue, he now hopes to raise more money for the cause of saving other children in serious need.

“It’ll be a great turnout,” he said of the event.

“I’m just trying to use my platform in a positive way. If we can continue that message, to keep that cycle of giving going, it’ll helps out a lot of people.”

First held in 2012 at Kings’ Rosemont location, the Charles Tillman Celebrity Pro BOWLer Tournament has attracted hundreds and raised more than $430,000 in support of the foundation.

  3. That was a very generous thing for Tillman to do, to share his story with the public and also generous for him to create a foundation for research.
