December 23, 2010 By paulmbanks

“This Christmas, will be a very very special Christmas” in terms of the nationally televised NBA schedule this year. The slate of games have more star power and interesting match-ups than in years past. Therefore, it will be much easier to avoid forced awkward conversation with extended family and in-laws that you can’t stand on this December 25th.

And Santa has brought the league’s biggest stars some special gifts this holiday season. Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Kevin Durant will all be wearing limited-edition Christmas Day colorways of their signature sneakers which will be available at retail the following day, December 26th.

The special footwear will be unveiled on-court as Lebron and the Miami Heat play Kobe and the LA Lakers in what’s sure to be a Christmas Day classic, while the Denver Nuggets will match up against Durant and the OKC Thunder on the 25th.

LEBRON 8 V/2 CHRISTMAS DAY “RUN ON RED”

Like a lion on the hunt, the LEBRON 8 V/2 is designed to be leaner and lighter, and to reflect LeBron’s evolving physical condition as he goes into the critical second half of the season. At a full 1 oz lighter than the first LEBRON 8, the V/2 is the first Nike Basketball shoe with an upper made entirely of Flywire technology with lightweight mesh in key areas, delivering LeBron the support he needs to overcome his opponents. The LEBRON 8 V/2 Christmas Day shoe launches on December 26, 2010. Additional colors of the LEBRON 8 V/2 launch at retail on January 8, 2011. Suggested Retail: $160.00

THE KD III CHRISTMAS DAY “NO YIELD FOR YELLOW”

Nike Zoom KD III is designed with specific insights from basketball star Kevin Durant. KD wanted his signature performance shoe to be accessible to everyone. The designer of the shoe found innovative ways to incorporate story telling design details to offer a true signature experience at an accessible price point.

Most details are included in the outsole of the shoe and include:

• Five lightning bolts come together on the outsole to represent his team.

• Piano keys near the heel and midfoot of the outsole represent KD’s love of music.

• BF62 repeat pattern throughout the outsole is a nod to the legendary game where KD scored 62 points at Barry Farms in his home town of Washington D.C.

NIKE ZOOM KOBE VI CHRISTMAS DAY “GREEN MEANS GO”

Inspired by his annual Christmas Day game, this year vs. Miami, the Nike Zoom Kobe VI was designed in green with red laces. This performance basketball shoe was inspired by Bryant’s on-court alter ego, the Black Mamba and draws its cues from the fearsome snake. The Zoom Kobe VI incorporates key performance elements in a low-profile shoe that weighs just 10.6 ounces (men’s US size 9) making it one of Nike’s lightest basketball shoes. Kobe also wanted his shoe to provide a couture fit so designers had to find a way to provide a custom fit for the masses. To provide a custom fit, the Kobe VI features a Dual Density sockliner that molds to the shape of your foot as you wear the shoe. It wraps up higher than most sockliners to cup the foot for a better fit and feel. The sockliner works in tandem with the heel counter to provide a tighter, more comfortable fit in the heel

The Nike Zoom Kobe VI launches in retail stores and online at nikestore.com on December 26, 2010. Customized versions will be available for sale on December 24 at NIKEiD.com. Suggested Retail: $130.00
