The “silly season” is here, Chicago Bulls fans. This is actually the more interesting season for Chicago Bulls fans. Craig Williams, formerly of 95.7 The Fan, South Bend, is here with me to break it down for you.
Williams agrees with me that this Chicago Bulls team was better off getting into the lottery than into the playoffs. Yet they won 48 games and finished just shy of the #3 seed in perhaps the worst Eastern Conference in NBA history. That Chicago Bulls postseason performance, with a whopping 69 points in the final game, only verified that they were better off in the lottery.
So you have questions, we have questions, and we have answers.
“It’s really going to be hard to sell fans on the Derrick Rose thing, because it’s been two major knee injuries, and he may never get back to being the Derrick Rose that was MVP,” said Williams.
“That’s just the reality of the situation, so who’s going to be your franchise player? That’s the biggest question?”
I agree. Is it going to be Carmelo Anthony? Who else is coming? Lance Stephenson? Evan Turner? Do you want any Indiana Pacers right now, given what they look like?

So Carlos Boozer is going to be amnestied. Can he take Kirk Hinrich with him? What’s going to be the identity of the Chicago Bulls moving forward? With the D. Rose injury right out of the gate and the 12-19 start, it was just too hard to check in this year, let alone buy in.
What about the draft?
Here’s our latest NBA Mock Draft, and what we have with the Chicago Bulls draft picks as of now.
16. Chicago (from CHAR)- Nik Stauskas, SG, Michigan, 6-6, Soph.
Since they dealt Luol Deng, the Bulls could use another wing scorer. The Wolverine sophomore can absolutely stroke it from deep but is also underrated in terms of his bounciness at the rim.

19. Chicago- Zach LaVine, G, UCLA, 6-5, Fr.
Since the Bulls dealt Marquis Teague and both Kirk Hinrich and D.J. Augustin are free agents, they could use some depth at the point guard position. The UCLA freshman has bits of Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook to his game but is nowhere near being NBA ready though.
