San Diego Padres Lose 2 Front Office Guys to Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres jointly announced today that Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod will leave the Padres and accept new front office positions with the Cubs. The Cubs will send the Padres a player to be named later (PLEASE be Alfonso Soriano and/or Carlos Zambrano) as compensation.

Both the Cubs and the Padres will hold press conferences after the World Series is over.

Hoyer’s position is Executive Vice President/General Manager and McLeod will be Senior Vice President/Scouting and Player Development. The Padres have named Josh Byrnes as Hoyer’s successor.

To keep you from losing interest in baseball entirely (if you haven’t already completely lost interest) between now and the winter meetings/hot stove league, both clubs have agreed to forego further comment until after the World Series is complete.
