Reports indicate Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be returning to full training this week with Manchester United, and possibly back in action soon. Ibrahimovic tore up his knee last April versus Anderlecht in the Europa League Quarter-finals, and it was thought that he would be out until the current month. The Swedish striker returned way ahead of time, but he was certainly not his usual self.
Ibra wasn’t even close to showing the dominant form that he displayed last season, when he was United’s leading scorer by a very wide margin. He picked up a knock on Boxing Day, in the same knee that was injured, and hasn’t played since.
However, The Sun claims that he was back running on Friday, having been working hard on regaining his fitness at the club’s Carrington training ground. The Daily Mail captured an Instagram story that Zlatan posted on his official account yesterday and captioned “high altitude work.”
The video, embedded below, showed Ibrahimovic working out on an exercise bike inside an oxygen tent with a trainer.
United will next head to Tottenham Hotspur for a Wednesday night league clash. After that, they host Huddersfield Town on Saturday, looking to avenge the huge upset that occurred the last time the two sides yet.
Now Zlatan Ibrahimovic faces a race to be fit in time to be considered for selection in either of those matches.
