Wayne Rooney Arrested, Charged with Drinking and Driving

WAYNE ROONEY

International breaks have not been kind to Wayne Rooney lately. Last November, photos emerged of Rooney looking extremely inebriated while enjoying an off night while on international duty with England. Reports then claimed he was out drinking until 5 a.m. and was so drunk that he couldn’t “string a sentence together.”

This year, Rooney is no longer playing for the national team, having announced his international retirement just a few days ago.

During his new found additional recreation time this year, Wayne Rooney did some binge drinking again, and found himself arrested on charges of drinking and driving.

Via The Guardian: “Rooney reportedly posed for a picture with the cricketer Jack McIver in the Bubble Room bar in Alderley Edge, near his home on Thursday evening. He was released on bail and is due to appear at Stockport magistrates court on Monday 18 September, the day after his club play at Manchester United.”

McIver then posted the photo on Instagram late Thursday night, with the appropriate caption: “International Break legend.” Despite the off-the-pitch issues, he’s off to a good start in his return to Everton, and he’s doing better than most in the online sports betting community expected him to perform. With two goals in his first three games back with the Toffees, he’s shown that he’s completely washed up yet.

Rooney returned to Goodison Park this summer, having spent the past 13 years with Manchester United. He left Old Trafford as the leading scorer in Red Devils history.
