United Will Battle City for the Title to the end Declares Jose Mourinho

Despite the wide gap, Manchester United will not give up their chase at their arch-rivals Manchester City for the Premier League title. Jose Mourinho declares that his side will battle them down to the very end, stating that his side won’t “go on holiday, we want to play until the last match.”

It’s got to be extremely frustrating this year for United and their supporters, as they have achieved what would normally be a league title winning kind of performance thus far this season.

City have taken an unreal 52 points from 54 possible through the first 18 matches. They are on a record shattering pace that has seen them undefeated, with 17 wins and one draw. United are 11 points behind, with 13 wins, two draws and three losses (City, Chelsea, Huddersfield Town). There second in the league in goals scored (39, to City’s 56) and tied with City for fewest goals allowed (12).

They truly are the best of the rest right now, and could probably win the league in any other, normal year.

Mourinho told his news conference after a 2-1 win at West Bromwich Albion that the title race is not over: “For me it is one game. We try to win, we are happy to win, we are not happy to lose. It will be like that. I know the questions are always coming in the same direction.”

“I keep saying, last match in the Premier League, Watford at Old Trafford, mid-May and until then every match we go, every match we try to win because if you ask that question to us and then you do the same question to the third and the fourth and to the fifth and sixth, probably they disappear, on their holidays.”

“We don’t want to go on holiday, we want to play until the last match.”

United won ugly against an extremely awful side today.

They lost shots 12-8, shots on goal 5-3, but won possession 57-43%, so despite the fact that it was not a work of art, they got the three points.
