Thibaut Courtois has completed his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid, and he was unveiled today as the newest member of Los Blancos. (Keylor Navas your plane is boarding??) Having completed his medical with his new club and finalized the £35 million switch, with Mateo Kovacic going the other way on loan for the season, he was presented in the Spanish capital to media and boosters.

Now Courtois gets to be much closer to the people he loves in the country and culture that he loves, while Chelsea attempts to replace him with Kepa Arrizabalaga.

If you want to take the same tour of the Santiago Bernabeu that Courtois did, and we mean virtually, not literally, you can do so at this link, via the write-up, photos of videos.

“A club like Real Madrid take notice of you if you’re playing well. I received a lot of offers, some better from a financial point of view, but I wanted to come here, and importantly, be close to my children,” Courtois said.

“When there was a firm offer on the table, I was in no doubt. My goal was to come to Real Madrid, everyone knew that.”

“As a kid, there’s always one club that stands out for you,” he added.

“In my case, I had immense admiration for Casillas, who was very young and took on a huge challenge.”

“I had Iker’s shirt, and when I was ten I went to watch an Anderlecht-Real Madrid match.”

“When I saw Iker, I was amazed that an 18-year-old goalkeeper playing at the Santiago Bernabéu could display that kind of mental strength.”
