Cristiano Ronaldo has been named to the Real Madrid squad that will face Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup. Ronaldo only just joined the team two days ago, following a very eventful off-season for him. He was not with the team for any of Real’s preseason friendlies, so this will be a chance to make his 2017-18 season debut with the club.
It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be in the first team, and just how much he will play in UEFA curtain raiser, having only just begun training with the club this past weekend.

Ronaldo missed all of Madrid’s preseason due to: a long tour of international duty with Portugal in the Confederations Cup, a mandated court appearance in Spain over tax evasion charges and a Nike promotional tour in China. As an added storyline for this match, a report came out this weekend in which Ronaldo was quoted pining for a return to England and praising Manchester.
This once again re-ignited the “could Ronaldo return to Man United?” transfer narrative, putting supporters on high alert, but we’ve heard this song so many times before recently, and this is almost certainly a big nothing burger, just like all the prior instances.
