Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was subjected to intense racial abuse online, via social media, after he missed a penalty kick attempt in his side’s draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.
Twitter released a statement this past Wednesday announcing that they are working with MUFC in investigating the incidents perpetrated against Pogba. Both United players and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke up in support of Pogba and in condemnation to the racist online trolls.
Pogba, via his own Twitter account, has made his first public statements on what has transpired.

“My ancestors and my parents suffered for my generation to be free today, to work, to take the bus, to play football,” Pogba posted on his official, verified account.
“Racist insults are ignorance and can only make me stronger and motivate me to fight for the next generation.”
Unfortunately, the same awful fate has now befallen Pogba’s teammate Marcus Rashford. In the 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace yesterday, Rashford missed the first penalty kick of his young career. Afterwards, he was also subjected to racial abuse online, which Solskjaer condemned his post match press conference.
Solskjaer is completely right when the said this behavior simply has to stop and it’s unbelievable that we’re still dealing with these kinds of issues here in 2019.
Turning to on the pitch matters, the loss yesterday loss dropped United to sixth in the table. They’ll take on Southampton F.C. next weekend, in the final match before the first international break.
