Newly minted Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri promises a couple of changes to the roster that he inherited from Antonio Conte. Sarri says that he will need to make a couple changes to the current roster of players this summer transfer window. Don’t expect a major overhaul though.
Sarri will bring an attacking style of football to Stamford Bridge as his three Napoli sides led Serie A in scoring. He was named Serie A coach of the year in 2016-17. However, he does not bring a proven track record to west London as he is yet to win a trophy.
“I think Chelsea are a good team. The problem is that in England, there are five or six very good teams,” Sarri said in an interview with the club’s website.
“I think with one or two adjustments, we can try to play my football.”
“First of all I want to play my football, I want to enjoy myself, and probably I want also to win something,” he added.
“It’s impossible in my job to promise something, but I surely would give all my possessions to win something with Chelsea.”
On the same day that Sarri was announced, the club also made the addition of Jorginho official. The Brazilian born Italian international is the only new player added by Chelsea this window.
However, there have been multiple outlets which picked up on a report in Italy that claims Chelsea have agreed to terms with CSKA Moscow for the transfer of World Cup hero Aleksandr Golovin.
Chelsea have also been linked to Juventus central defender Daniele Rugani.
