Wayne Rooney has taken a ton of grief from England and Manchester United fans recently, and over the past few years in general, but he deserves our respect. He is, at least for the time being, the captain of both United and the England national team. He’s also the leading scorer for both sides.
So while he may seem like more of a figurehead today, he’s accomplished a ton, for both club and country. Keep all this mind as Rooney moves on now, returning to Everton on a free transfer.
Via TalkSport, who cite another source: “The Sun report Rooney will continue to earn £250,000-per-week on Merseyside, having chosen to return to his first club with no MLS offers on the table and no desire to uproot his family to China.”
For all the United fans who wanted to see Wayne Rooney out these past couple years, it appears you’ll now get your wish in the next few days.
