Argentine centre-back and Manchester City star Nicolas Otamendi has extremely high praise for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku. Otamendi was asked about the most difficult forwards that he’s ever faced, and he put United’s £75 million summer acquisition right at the top, alongside Barcelona scoring sensation Luis Suarez.
In an interview with Spanish outlet Marca, Otamendi was asked which strikers, all across the world, make him “suffer.”
He responded: “There are many. Luis Suarez is a striker who is constantly moving, making diagonal runs, creating space, then you always have to be prepared to run.”
“Then Lukaku is another very strong player, technically good, quick… It’s between those two.”
Suarez has 21 goals in 25 appearances for Barca this season while Lukaku has 14 scoring strikes in 29 games for the Red Devils.
Otamendi and City will take on Lukaku and United in the second Manchester Derby of the season, this one at The Etihad, April 7. When they meet again, the stakes will be considerably lower than the season’s first meeting, at Old Trafford, back in December.
At that time, there was still an opportunity for United to climb back into the title race; until City came in and emerged victorious on United’s home ground.
