One of the most tedious transfer sagas of the summer is set to finally come to an end. Inter Milan, who bid £54 million for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku last month, only to see it rejected, have now returned with a fresh new bid that’s been accepted by Old Trafford.
According to The Guardian, the new offer is worth £70m, and it means an agreement has FINALLY been reached; so alas, we can put this long protracted transfer saga to bed. It’s about time!
Big Rom, who did not feature for United in any of the club’s preseason friendlies, has been skipping training and garnered himself a fine from MUFC. The past two days saw the Belgian training with his former club, Anderlecht. According to reports, the big Belgian will undergo his Internazionale medical on Thursday.
Hi agent, Federico Pastorello, flew to London today to work on settling the situation. Then tonight, he posted this photo on Instagram of himself and Lukaku, on a private jet with a caption that reads: “Ready to take off. Direction Milano.”
In other words, Lukaku is off to Milan to close this deal and manager Antonio Conte will finally get the player he’s coveted for at least two years. As for United, well, they don’t have much time (well less than 24 hours) to obtain a replacement.
