Manchester United Team Captain Nemanja Vidic is very likely headed to Inter Milan with his agent saying it’s pretty much a done deal. So what about a replacement for The Serbinator? Lots of names have been thrown out there, and a certain AS Roma defender has emerged as a very likely candidate.
Here’s an excerpt from TalkSPORT’s transfer rumors piece on Mehdi Benatia, a Moroccan international, born in France. The 26 year old Centre-back from AS Roma has 31 caps to his credit.
What’s the latest?
Despite reportedly monitoring the defender’s progress during his time at Udinese, Manchester United didn’t challenge Roma for the defender’s signature when he moved to the Italian capital last summer. However, Benatia’s performances since his move have seemingly convinced United to revisit the prospect of a move and the Red Devils are thought to be readying a bid. Yet, with Arsenal and Tottenham also thought to be interested, United face competition for the centre-back’s signature and would likely have to pay significantly more than the £11m shelled out by Roma just eight months ago.
Inter Milan reportedly offered Nemanja Vidic a two-year deal worth £50,000-a-week. Serie A champions Juventus and French club Monaco are also pursuing the 32-year-old, with Galatasaray another club to have shown a long-term interest in the player.
