Manchester United got the 2019-20 season off to a rip roaring start, thrashing their rivals Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford. Up next is a visit to the Molineux, where they will take on a Wolverhampton Wanderers side that really gave them hell last season.
It’ll be a few days until the Wolves clash, so let’s take a look at some of the news and notes items currently making the rounds in the MUFC web community, starting with Harry Maguire’s bossing the only all-big six matchup of the opening weekend.
For his efforts, the £80 million man, the most expensive defender in history, was awarded the top spot in NBC Sports’ Premier League individual power rankings. The list covers performances of all those who played in week one.
United comprised two of the top three and three of the top eight.
- Harry Maguire (Man United)
- Raheem Sterling (Man City)
- Marcus Rashford (Man United)
- Harry Kane (Tottenham
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)
- Kevin De Bruyne (Man City)
- Ashley Barnes (Burnley)
- Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Man United)
Speaking of Maguire and AWB, Forbes has an excellent piece today on their performances in week one. I strongly agree with the idea that the newly signed pair is showing United what they have been missing.
And Blame Football has another great piece today showing the duo’s stats from the season opener.
Finally, covering the third member of United to crack the individual power rankings, Marcus Rashford, the young Englishman has set a specific objective for this season. He wants to score 20 goals, according to The Sun.
