Manchester United thrashed CSKA Moscow today 4-1, racing out to a 3-0 lead in the first 27 minutes, and never looking back. They will next face Crystal Palace at home on Saturday before heading into international break.

After win today, manager Jose Mourinho revealed that there is a chance attacking midfielder Marouane Fellaini could return to action after missing the trip to the Russian capital with an ankle injury. He also said that central defender Phil Jones is questionable and that midfielder Michael Carrick is out.

Mourinho said: “We relaxed a little bit [in the second half]. It’s normal and we have a game on Saturday. Liverpool are luckier than us, they play Tuesday and Sunday, we have to play Wednesday and Saturday at 3 p.m.

“Carrick has no chance, Jones, I have many doubts and Fellaini, I have a hope but just a hope.”

Mourinho did not give an update on Man of the Match Anthony Martial, who left the game early due to an injury. However, the United boss did say that he would have played the Frenchman 90 minutes today if he could.

“The game adapted to [Martial’s] qualities, the way we played adapted to his qualities, too. He had lots of freedom, lots of support and lots of quality around him and I am happy,” he said.

“His contribution was good and it was a pity he could not play for 90 minutes because I was ready to let him on the pitch for the whole game.”
