Edurne Garcia is more than just the next Shakira. She could have major influence on European football’s summer transfer market. At least one of the biggest deals going down/not going down, and the dominoes that would fall afterward.

David de Gea hasn’t officially left Manchester United for Real Madrid, but there’s a lot of hand-writing on the wall right now. MARCA called it already, but Sky Sports has shot that report down. Still, we’ve heard plenty of language out of Old Trafford that makes it sound like they could be preparing for life without their #1.

Writes Tom Hopkinson in the Daily Mirror:

David De Gea’s pop star girlfriend Edurne Garcia is the driving force behind his proposed move to Real Madrid this summer, writes Tom Hopkinson in the Sunday People.

The 24-year-old keeper has made no secret of his desire to return to his home city – but it seems his reasons are as much personal as professional.

De Gea and Garcia, who is representing Spain in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, plan to marry next year and she is keen to remain in Spain to further her career.

There are stories out there claiming that Louis van Gaal has admitted United has done all they can to keep him at this point. By now, it’s out of Old Trafford’s hands and all in De Gea’s hands. There’s another story saying that Van Gaal told De Gea that Real won’t love him as much as United do.

However, De Gea’s hometown, and his fiance Edurne Garcia, just might.
