Young Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji moved to BVB from Basel in the January transfer window and he’s already established himself as a key cog in their machine. However, he’s already talked about the next time he might switch clubs, or at least where he would like to go if given the chance.
Akanji, who has already seen some time wearing the captain’s arm band for the Bundesliga side, revealed that he has been a Manchester United fan since he was a child, and he hopes to join the team some day.
“Many know that Manchester United has been my favorite club since childhood,” Akanji told Bluewin.
“It would be nice to play there once, but that’s not an issue right now. I am very satisfied in Dortmund, I want to win BvB titles and compete with the Swiss national team in many more big tournaments.”
There have not been any transfer rumors linking Akanji to United, nor any articles indicating any interest in the Swiss international from Old Trafford at this time. So while his dream move seems very unlikely at this point, one day, you just never know.
